Investing in the Baltics
The right place to invest
This is the right choice as the Baltic countries have favourable business environment, convenient location, strong logistics capacity and world-leading ICT infrastructure.
The governments of the Baltic states encourage foreign investments through attractive taxation policy and other incentives depending on the sector of economy.
Along with the developed infrastructure, investors will also benefit from advanced technology, highly specialized and educated workforce, absence of limitations as to majority shareholdings in local companies, equal terms of taxation or business registration for national and foreign investors, possibility to freely buy and own real estate without the risk of being expropriated.

Starting a business
01
Starting a busines

The most popular way of investment is setting up an effective and profitable business in one of the Baltic countries. It is possible to carry out commercial activities through various types of legal entities (limited liability company, small partnership, individual enterprise, public institution, and etc.).
We will help you to choose the most suitable legal form corresponding to your business needs and objectives as well as provide advice on taxation issues.
We will also guide you on the legal entity’s establishment procedure, prepare all necessary documentation, as well as represent your interests at the notary bureau and the registration authority through the whole process of legal entity’s registration.
Getting a temporary residence permit
Residence permits are issued to foreigners who are not nationals of the Member States of the European Union.
Temporary residence permit can be issued for one, two or three years, depending on the grounds of its issuance which can be family, work, science/studies, business activity or other.
Procedure and requirements for getting a residence permit may seem quite complicated to a foreigner.
Knowing and understanding your needs, we will provide you with comprehensive advice on the procedure and documents requested for the receipt of temporary residence permit, as well as assist you with applications to be filed with local authority.

Real estate

Foreigners can purchase any type of real estate with some exceptions applicable in a concrete Baltic country and depending on the type of property (land, forest, or agricultural land) or its location (for example, border areas). Foreign natural or legal persons can only acquire land plots in Lithuania if they correspond with the established constitutional criteria.
Buying or selling real estate is a complex financial transaction requiring the assistance of a lawyer. In cooperation with our legal partners, we provide consultations and legal assistance on real estate purchase transactions (terms and conditions of the agreement, procedure, costs, and etc.).
We provide full legal service, including verification of the title and documentation on real estate in the public register (whether the object belongs to the seller, absence of encumbrances or seizures by judicial authorities), consultations on value of transaction during negotiations, preparation of a preliminary sale and purchase agreement, assistance and representation of your interests at the notary bureau during the conclusion of the main purchase agreement, and receipt of ownership certificate from the public register.
Opening bank accounts in the banks operating in the Baltic countries
A legal entity registered in one of the Baltic states should have a bank account opened in one of the banks of its business location. A foreign individual can also open a bank account in one of the banks operating in Lithuania, Latvia, or Estonia.
However, opening a bank account for a foreign individual or a local company with foreign capital is not an easy process. Banks have tightened their policies of opening bank accounts and apply measures (compliance checks and customer due diligence) intended to verify the funds for money laundering and fraud purposes. For example, upon opening a bank account in Lithuania, a foreigner must prove its connection with Lithuania (receipt of temporary residence permit; employment contract with Lithuanian company; family relations; company established in Lithuania; real estate owned in Lithuania).
Corporate customers are required to provide a thorough information about company activities, ownership scheme, suppliers, partners, customers, property, capital, investments, and etc.
We provide consultations on requested information and documentation, as well as assist our clients in opening bank accounts in accordance with their needs.
